Loop Stitching – What is it?
Loop Stitching is a method of binding brochures, magazines and booklets so that they may be inserted into a ring binder. This is done by the wire being formed into a loop on the outer of the book. You can loop stitch with 2 or 4 wires (depending on the number of rings in the ring binder).
What is it used for? For binding Brochures, magazines and booklets so that they may be inserted into a ring binder.
At What Point do we do it? Loop Stitching is a print finishing process (after printing).
How do we do it? A normal Saddle Stitching process is used, but the wire (staple), as well as being clenched on the inside, is formed on the outside to a round loop which fits over the ring binder.
More about Loop Stitching… Companies offering loop stitching are few and far between, those companies that do often only offer 2 loops. At Print Buying Direct we can loop stitch with 4 or 2 wires. Loop Stitching works better with 12pp or more, thin books don’t always hold together very well. We advise that you don’t specify shrink wrapping as the loops will often pierce the plastic, packing in boxes is far preferable.
