Newsletter Printing – Free ways to reach more people
Discover ways to reach your audience without renting mailing lists. Beyond mailing, there are a number of ways you can extend the distribution of your newsletter.
Encourage sharing. Exposure is increased when people save, display, pass along or forward your new to others. Add a “route to” box or a note to forward your news. You can also provide a coupon for those receiving the pass-along print copies or subscription information for your e-mail newsletter.
Piggyback. To save postage and increase exposure, you can enclose your newsletter with another promotional mailing or with monthly statements or invoices. You probably receive several newsletters this was from utility companies, investment firms and credit card issuers.
Package inserts. Makers of consumer products sometimes put their newsletter in their package or on the box or bag. This has been done for diet products, bread and cereal.
Press release. You can attract new subscribers by sending news releases about your newsletter to publications in your field. Some magazines will list it in their literature section. If a reporter is writing about your company, mention that reader’s cans sign up for your newsletter at your web site.
Press kits. Include your newsletter in your own press kits, along with your press release on other products. Journalists will learn more about your company and may even get an idea for an article based on something in the newsletter.
Handouts. Newsletters can be handed out at trade shows and conventions or offered to seminar producers to include as giveaways. They can be used as leave-behinds by salespeople. Always have people from your company hand out copies when speaking at seminars, meetings and conventions. Keep a stack of newsletters in your lobby for new vendors, prospective employees and walk-in clients.
Unexpected requests. Always print and save extra copies of each of your publications. Put them in a secure place or archive your e-mail newsletter on your hard drive so that if someone needs a particular issue, it is readily available. This also serves as a good reference for subjects already covered. You may even find them a good training source for new employees.
Reply cards. When renting a mailing list, using other people’s lists, handing out newsletters to groups, or leaving stacks of newsletters for browsers, remember to include a sign-up card or website address for signing up so you can add interested readers to your list.
Fax to local numbers. Many companies and associations find local distribution via fax a faster and more effective than mailing or e-mailing. Local faxing is free and ensures immediate printed delivery.
Load into online libraries. If your newsletter is filled with helpful information, you can load it onto libraries of association or other complementary organisation’ websites.
Put it on your website. Convert your newsletter content into sample articles for your web page. Offer the content from previous issues here, too.
