Die Cutting

Definition: Die Cutting is the process used to cut out shapes that are not possible with a guillotine.

What is it used for? Commonly used for Folders, Leaflets, Point of Sale (Shelf Wobblers etc) & Business Cards, but can be applied to many printed items for a stunning effect.

At what point do we do it? The cut out is made at the end of the process, only followed by folding if necessary.

How do we do it? The cut is made using a die, which has sharp metal strips placed into a CNC cut block in the shape of your design. The sheet is pressed onto the die using a high pressure roller which punches out the shape like a 'cookie cutter'.

More about: An infinate number of shapes can be used to great effect on mailers, folders and point of sale, ensuring your promotional literature stands out from the crowd. It doesn't have to be the outer shape either, you could use it create a hole in your design! We recently produced a Floristry mailer die cut in the shape of a Poinsettia, novel mailers like this often generate better results than 'standard' size square cut ones as the novelty makes your item stand out. We have produced die cut Mailers in the shape of snowmen, guitars and many many more - there are too many variables to list on this website - so please call for details or fill in our online form.
