Paper Sizes for Print

Paper and Board Sizes are measured internationally by the standard ISO 216. Its unique quality is its scalalability.

The height divided by the width on all sizes is the square root of two (1.4142), as a result when you fold a sheet in half the two halves will have the same proportions. This is of benefit when a design needs to be reproduced in a smaller or larger format. eg: from a poster to a leaflet. Simply reducing it by 70% (to go down two sizes is 50%) or enlarging by 140% (up two sizes is 200%) . These options commonly appear on photocopiers, office printers and many other digital systems.
